Orellana, in collaboration with Capstone Site Mentor Dr. Madelaine Fellela, DPT, and Faculty Mentor Dr. Pey-Shan Wen, PhD, Ms., as part of his Capstone experience to increase knowledge and awareness of Male Pelvic Health among OT students and practitioners, with the mission of advancing AOTA Vision 2030: "enriching life for ALL individuals and society through meaningful engagement in everyday activities."

About Luis F. Orellana, B.S, OTD/S
Hi, I'm Luis F. Orellana, an occupational therapy doctoral student with a background in psychology and a strong passion for advancing male pelvic health in Occupational therapy practice. I am committed to providing Trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and holistic care. My capstone focuses on increasing awareness, education, and access to evidence-based pelvic floor interventions within occupational therapy. Another goal of my capstone project is to reduce stigma related to male pelvic health and support OT students and practitioners in confidently addressing male pelvic concerns.
About Dr. Madelaine Fellela, PT, DPT
Madelaine Fellela, PT, DPT, also known as Maddy, is a traveling Doctor of Physical Therapy who has a passion for normalizing conversations about our bodies to help individuals better understand theirs. She takes pride in helping others to discover the autonomy to care for themselves and has been specializing in pelvic floor therapy for the past 4 years. Prior to starting her career, Maddy received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Nutrition from East Carolina University in North Carolina. Afterward, she went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Hampton University in Virginia Beach, where she found her love for pelvic floor therapy. She is also a graduate of the American Physical Therapy Association-accredited Orthopedic Residency. When she is not at work, you can find Maddy enjoying the outdoors with her pitbull (Quinn) and other family/friends, along with crafting and powerlifting.
About Dr. Pey-Shan Wen, MHS, Ph.D
Dr. Wen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Georgia State University. She is a licensed occupational therapist and trained rehabilitation researcher with extensive experience in clinical practice and interdisciplinary, multi‑center research collaborations. Her scholarship centers on two primary areas: (1) the use of item response theory to develop and refine measurement tools, and (2) the application of innovative interventions—such as yoga and perturbation‑based training—for individuals with chronic disabilities, particularly those with brain injury and older adults.
She has a strong interest in developing and validating measures of community integration, participation, and patient‑reported outcomes. By transforming traditional assessments into computer adaptive tests, short forms, and keyforms, she aims to enhance the clinical utility and accessibility of psychometrically robust instruments.
